Contemporary Expansion Phase of Island Populations classified by Stage of the Taxon Cycle

Genetic distances representing the initiation of the contemporary expansion phases of species grouped according to stage of taxon cycle. In the case of stage 4 species, the distance is to the closest sister taxon. Data are presented as means and standard deviations. Means differ significantly among stages (F = 8.35, df = 3, 21, P = 0.0008, R2 = 0.54).
