Accession: BUCKET Theme: Phenology
Data Set Title: Weekly phenological census focusing on four BCI tree species. Jun 1980 to Dec 2001
Originator: Steven Paton
Study Type: Monitoring
Study Period: Jun 17, 1980 to June 17, 2003 - planned to continue indefinitely
Abstract:

Weekly phenological census of reproductive organs falling into traps located beneath focal individuals of four tree species on BCI.  The four species are Brosimum alicastrum, Quaribea asterolepis, Tetragastris panamensis, and Trichilia tuberculata.  Reproductive organs of the focal plant only are collected and counted.

The number of traps located around each focal tree and the area of these traps has changed as follows:
(1) before Apr 30, 1987 - 12 traps, surface area 0.1134 m2 each
(2) Apr 30, 1987 to May 6, 1987 - 6 traps, surface area 0.1134 m2 each
(3) May 15, 1987 to May 26, 1988 - 6 traps (odd numbered), surface area 0.1134 m2 each, 6 traps (even numbered), surface area 0.25 m2 each
(4) after May 26, 1988 - 8 traps, surface area 0.25 m2 each

Number of captured items standardized to a density (number m-2) are provided in the variable Density.
