Research Interests

My interests are focused on understanding the diversity of mollusk fossil assemblages from the point of view of trophism and escalation processes, and their relation with preservation of fossil (taphonomic implication), the configuration of assemblages, sizes of populations, and morphological variations through the fossil record, taking into account the life habit and strategy (K or R) of mollusks.

Current Research

My current research intends to understand the uplifting of Eastern Cordillera in Colombia,  and its biogeographic implications, trough the reconstructions of paleoenvironments based on malacofauna fossil (taxonomy and taphonomy) of the Magdalena basin (MB) and western foothill of Eastern cordillera in the Llanos basin (LLB). We want to test the hypothesis of the marine incursion during Early Miocene and if it affected the faunas from LLB but not ones occurring in MB. It could be evidencing a considerable topography keeping isolated the population of mollusks from MMV and LLB.
