Princeton

Courses

Classes will begin on Monday, February 4, and end Wednesday, April 30. Travel to Panama will be arranged for Saturday, February 2, with return on Thursday, May 1. Each class will meet for 3 weeks of total immersion; students will often be in class, or the field, 5.5 days per week. After the first two courses (6 weeks), students will have off for spring break. At the end of term, students will return to Princeton and spend the month of May writing up final reports and their junior paper.

While in Panama students will live in the recently renovated classroom-dormitory complex. Upon returning to Princeton, students will live in University housing.

The cost of the Spring Semester Panama Program should be approximately equivalent to one term in Princeton. Students will be charged the normal Princeton tuition for one semester, a fee that covers Panama room and board, as well as a housing fee for the final three weeks of the semester when they are back on the Princeton campus. The normal Princeton room/board fees when pro rated for the off-campus period will be $4,557 (the Panama fee). The housing cost for three weeks on-campus will be $471. Students participating in a University meal plan when they return to campus will see a charge of $462 on their student bill. Students who belong to clubs should notify them that they will not be participating in the spring term.

Additional expenses students will incur will be those for airfare (around $800), the cost of the Entry/Exit fee (about $25), and the cost of recommended/mandatory immunizations (up to $200 depending on individual pharmacy plans). The student should also plan to bring additional funds to pay for room, board and travel during the spring break period, and souvenirs, personal items and other odds and ends.
